The Rule 30 Laboratory
The Wolfram Rule 30 Prize is three unsolved problems about the simplest program that looks random, and it is graded by a proof assistant. This film shows what Rule 30 is, what the prize asks, and then walks through every screen of the Rule 30 Laboratory, an open repository that keeps the whole attack (the cellular automaton, 27 research loops, 315 claims, the prize kit and every public submission) in one rulebook, where the build, not a person, decides what each claim’s status is. It ends by running one loop from its hypothesis to the verdict the build gives back.
